Proposals were recently announced to turn most of the existing Lambeth College in Brixton site to a free school. Lambeth NUT, Lambeth UNISON and Lambeth UCU oppose this and have called a public meeting to launch the campaign

This Thursday teachers across London are going on strike

If you want to show support please come to the rally on town hall steps in Brixton at 9.30. There is demo from ULU at 10.30 marching past Downing St, the DFE and on to Emmanuel Hall

In addition to showing a film of the teachers strike in Birmingham on October 1, showing rushes from the strike in London that day, and getting reportbacks from teachers across London, we’ll be showing short films on:

  • The firefighters strike (with striking firefighter STEVE WHITE speaking)
  • The coming strike over pay and conditions in Higher Education (MARK CAMPBELL from London Metropolitan UCU speaking)
  • The fight against ATOS assessments (speaker from DPAC – Disabled People Against Cuts)
  • Second half STEVE WHITE & THE PROTEST FAMILY will be playing live, and we’ll have a dj set from West London’s SOUL 10

This event replaces our regular planning meeting. The next planning meeting is Thursday 7th November

Save Lambeth College in Brixton

Lambeth College management have announced plans to sell the Brixton site of Lambeth College to property developers. We need a campaign to stop this and save education in Brixton.

There’s a public meeting on Monday to launch the campaign and discuss the next steps:
