The cooperative council is a front for cuts – Demonstrate on F29

Disabled people are facing cuts which amount to 10% of the entire deficit. They are facing attacks on benefits, attacks on jobs, attacks on public services they rely on and possibly on housing benefit. Shamefully the Labour council in Lambeth is putting disabled people in the front line of implementing these cuts. Lambeth council’s cuts affect thousands of disabled people

The cooperative council is anything but cooperative. It’s about transferring public services out of local democratic control. The council are simply using the cuts as an excuse for this. The council is using the most vulnerable people to implement this failed political experiment.

The cuts to disabled people won’t even save money, in the long term they will increase costs. Disabled people will find themselves driven into poverty, isolated from their neighbours and trapped in their homes. I really don’t want this to happen.

This is why I will be protesting outside the council meeting on February 29th
