Joint Lambeth SOS/ Trade Unions Statement on 30th November

Posted: December 7, 2011 by blackdaffodil in Uncategorized

Passed on November 30th, 2011 by those gathered in Windrush Square, Brixton before proceeding to Lincoln’s Inn Fields for the main march:

1. This Assembly condemns the government’s attacks on public sector workers’ pensions. We see this as part of a wider offensive on jobs, pay, services and benefits to pay the cost of the continuing economic crisis caused by the bankers.

2. This Assembly congratulates all unions and workers who are taking strike action today.

3. We call on all the unions and the TUC to organise further, united and longer strike action in January. We need to extend and deepen the strike movement to bring in the private sector as well if we are to stop this government’s attacks and defend pensions, pay, jobs, benefits and services.
